01 Feb 2009 — expert-shops has dramatically enhanced the shopping experience. It is safe to say that our websites have undergone a complete makeover. This transformation includes easier navigation, updated website design, faster load times and the addition of more relevant information on our product pages.
The most prominent change is undoubtedly the navigation. Customers are now able to narrow down the results, allowing them to view only the products that match their interests, budget and expectations. Says our lead programmer (Ede Meijer): "The new navigation meets the expectations of customers in the year 2009".
Furthermore, we have updated the design by extending the width of the website, and this allows us to increase the amount of information on our websites whilst keeping the overview and transparency. Additionally we have switched databases, where we used to use MySQL for all operations we now use PostgreSQL. Our chief database engineer (Ben van Velzen) says: "We now have faster load times, increased reliability and higher guaranteed uptime".
